This is a wonderful time of year to be on Block Island.  The water is still warm enough for swimming.  The evenings are cool and in some cases, as was true in this case, the water is very still and quiet.  This was a most unusual evening because of the beautiful sky and how it reflected in the water.  A few week's earlier, Great Salt Pond would have sheltered a thousand boats.  Not this night in late September.  I had just finished swimming when I took this picture.  I was still in a wet bathing suit, but didn't want to take a chance that the light would change.
